4 Tech Essentials to Help You Ace Your Dorm Life

Dorm life was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. It was, by no means, comfortable, afterall, no one wants to leave their comfy bed and share a bathroom with other people.

Yet, it  was still one of the most enjoyable times of my life as I learned a lot of valuable lessons, such as surviving the entire month on a limited budget and managing different tasks simultaneously, to name a few.

Anyway, I know that the thought of leaving your house and living in a dorm seems frightening. However, there are plenty of tech essentials, which I’ll share in this article. They may not replicate the comfort of your home, But they can help you ace the dorm life like a pro, for sure (Pero sin duda, pueden ayudarte a desenvolverte en la vida en la residencia estudiantil como un professional).

So, without further ado, let’s get started on some tech essentials you need:

1. A Reliable Internet Connection

Most student residences and dorms are already equipped with internet. However, those connections might not be fast because dozens of students use them simultaneously.

As a student, you might need a reliable internet connection for almost everything. From creating assignments, attending online classes and workshops to fulfilling your entertainment needs by playing games, watching movies, or simply laughing out loud at memes, you will need high-speed internet.

Now, you can use your mobile hotspot to fulfill your online needs, but keep in mind that it can get costly. Or, you can subscribe to affordable Cox Internet that comes with millions of free hotspot zones nationwide.

Speaking from experience, Cox’s hotspots were a real lifesaver. I always stayed connected via them on the go. And, whenever I couldn’t locate a hotspot zone, I called the ever-responsive Cox servicio al cliente to find one for me.

2. A Robot Vacuum

You might not need a robot vacuum if you take an active part in house chores. However, consider it a tech essential to save your time and keep your dorm clean.

I bought a robot vacuum in my first year of dorm life. And, I would highly recommend it to everyone because of its functionality. Robot vacuums are quite smart, as they can clean dust and other particles without you lifting a finger (ya que pueden limpiar el polvo y otras partículas sin que tengas que mover un dedo).

Most robot vacuums can navigate their way around your dorm. And, with the help of sensors, robot vacuums can also avoid colliding with objects such as furniture.

Last but not least, the robot vacuum I had could also be controlled via its app. So, if someday I had forgotten to turn it on before going to college, I could switch it on via its dedicated app and come back to a tidy dorm.

3. A Smart Coffee Machine

Personally, I never woke up on time, and always made it to morning class at the last minute. And if you’re like me, who cannot operate without coffee in their system, then it might be the most important tech gadget for you on this list.

Well, just like a robot vacuum kept my dorm clean, a smart coffee machine helped me survive a hectic day. Now, let me tell you how a smart coffee machine makes dorm life so much easier.

Most smart coffee machines allow you to set a timer. And once that timer stops, it brews a fresh cup of coffee (Preparará una taza de café recién hecho). Not that difficult, right? However, you still need to ensure you fill the coffee machine with essentials such as filter paper, coffee beans, and milk.

Nonetheless, as I said, it’s a lifesaver and can brighten your mornings every day.

4. A Noise-Cancelling Headphones

There are times in a dorm life when you need pin-drop silence to study. However, people around you might not care about it, and that’s when noise-cancelling headphones come in handy.

You wouldn’t need to worry about the noise anymore with this tech gadget on your side. Just cover your ears with these headphones, play a soothing track, and study in peace.

Also, I recommend the one with a Bluetooth option. While wired ones are also good, Bluetooth-enabled headphones let you roam around without removing them.

So, these are my top four tech gadgets that can help you ace your dorm life, for sure. However, before winding up, I’ve got one last suggestion (Sin embargo, antes de terminar, tengo una última sugerencia):

Getting adjusted to dorm life can take time. What’s important is that it teaches you some life-long lessons and a sense of responsibility to manage everything. So, do watch out for these gadgets to make the whole experience a little easier, and don’t forget to enjoy yourself. Good Luck!
